ENVIRONMENTAL TIPS

Concerned about Global Warming?  You can make a difference by just doing the following:  replace one light bulb with a compact florescent (CFL), turn off the water while brushing your teeth, use tote bags in place of plastic bags, cut out bottled water, and take public transportation in place of your car twice a month.  We'll update the website with energy saving tips, as well as keeping you posted about the activities of the Arkansas Green Restaurant Alliance (AGRA).

COOKING CLASSES

The next Cooking Class will be "Great Asian Soups", Wednesday, November 12.  This class will be taught at Kitchen Co. in the Pleasant Ridge Shopping Center.  Cost is $58- and you may register online at school@kitchenco.net.

ONE DAY, ONE COMMUNITY KICKS OFF OCTOBER 13

Lilly's One Day, One Community program begins Monday, October 13.  Fifteen per cent (15%) of all sales for the day will be donated to West Little Rock Rotary's School Literacy Program.  Each week, WLR Rotary buys a book for a Little Rock elementary school, from their wish list.  A special sticker is placed in the book, honoring that week's speaker. Monies raised from the October 13 benefit will buy more books for this program. Primary beneficiaries are Chicot and Wakefield Elementart Schools. Come for lunch and dinner and help our kids!

ART SHOW:  KIM LATTA, OCTOBER 21

Please join us for an art opening and reception featuring the work of Kim Latta. Select one of Kim's works or commission a painting for that special someone (Kim painted the portrait of our namesake that hangs in the party room; other commissioned works will be on display).   Kim studied art in Massachusetts, Arkansas, and Louisiana, and holds a BFA in Studio Art and an MAP in Applied Psychology.  She is currently using acrylics and mixed media to create two dimensional impressionism.  "If I can say anything with my art, I hope to say something about the spirit of life through color and simple reminders," said Latta. The opening and reception are from 6:30-8:30.
